Welcome to the Velo Club Lincoln
Lincoln based Racing Club with accredited GO RIDE junior section. The club organises races, competitive training and more relaxed social rides every week of the year. Some members race, whilst others are training for new challenges in the UK or overseas, or simply riding socially and safely whilst steadily improving general fitness and wellbeing.
Our British Cycling trained and accredited coaches run a very active junior section which combines handling competences and skills with handicapped junior races which has a proven record of developing juniors into seniors. We are in the cyclo-cross racing season now and so the guys and girls who are currently racing, are getting their fat tyres muddy. The road racers in the club are ‘putting some gentle miles in’ on the road at the regular Saturday and Sunday club runs. Towards March the tempo will be raised for these guys, whilst the cross racers’ season draws to a close.
There is always someone racing or training, sometimes the training feels like a race, but there is a definite emphasis on enjoyment!
For all sports and activities, there is a huge amount of information on the internet and a comprehensive choice of magazines, but at Velo, our members are able to offer first class advice based upon decades of riding experience. Tell us your objectives and you’ll find that there will be a handful of people who can immediately guide you or your child and, they’ll be with you on your journey.
To distil it all down, we all love riding our bikes and welcome you to come along and take your riding to a new level within a socially proactive environment.
LINCOLNSHIRE CHARITY ORGANISES CYCLING EVENT FOR PARK PROJECTPedal power will be needed for a new summer fund-raiser in aid of Lincolnshire-based charity, Linkage Community Trust.
Linkage, which provides services for young, learning disabled people, has organised an 18- mile return cycle ride on Sunday 27th May using the Water Rail Way, which follows the River Witham from Lincoln to Bardney. The event will be supporting Linkage’s plans for a café, shop, horticulture centre and education block at Boultham Park in Lincoln.
Head of Development, Christine Saxon says: “It’s an easy route to use and is an ideal, though challenging distance for a family cycle ride. This is a new event for us and we hope lots of people will support it. Our primary cause for fund-raising is a local project to provide great new facilities for the people of Lincoln, visitors and cyclists alike, at Boultham Park.”
Free parking will be available at the departure point at Waterside South in Lincoln, and the entry fee is £5 per person – children 16 or under are free when accompanied by an adult. It is open to everyone aged 10 and above, who are physically able, and can provide their own bike in full working condition. With registration on the day between 9am–10am, the ride will start at 10.30am, supported by members of the cycling charity Sustrans who can also check bikes before starting.
The registration form can be downloaded from www.linkage.org.uk and returned to the following address: Bike Ride, Linkage Community Trust, Langton House, Lindum Business Park, Station Road, North Hykeham LN6 3QX, or email
