General Information For Club Rides and Events

Clothing:

  • Layers of clothing are advisable, as riders do get warm whilst training – but cool down very quickly once we stop.
  • It is important to keep warm and keep a top and some leggings available to put on after the riding has finished. Leg warmers and arm warmers are ideal for those colder spring evenings.
  • A light raincoat is advisable as it not only protects from the rain but also protects the chest from the wind and insulates the body when it is really cold.

Nutrition:

  • Plenty of liquid, water or juice but no fizzy drinks and fruit or cereal bars but ideally no crisps or sweets

You and Your Bicycle:

  • A serviceable bicycle and suitable safety equipment, including a helmet and appropriate clothing are essential to ensure everyone's safety and wellbeing.
  • All riders will be taught how to check their bikes and equipment, including the daily ‘M Check’ process.
  • If a bike is deemed to be unfit or unsafe (by any club official), or clothing is deemed inappropriate, you will not be allowed to ride.

Club Equipment:

  • The club understands that cycling can be an expensive sport especially as children continuously grow out of their current bike.
  • The club has a small number of bikes that can be loaned for a short period of time.
  • We also have a small number of turbo trainers and rollers.
  • All we ask is that the equipment is maintained correctly, and a deposit is left.
  • All loan periods are designed to be short as there are always children waiting to borrow a bike to “Try before you commit hard earned cash.”
  • Please ask one of the coaches for further information.
