Wednesday Evening Coaching Nights At Yarborough

The majority of the club activities either take place or start from the Yarborough Leisure Centre in Lincoln. Yarborough Leisure Centre is situated on Riseholme Rd, Lincoln. The post code is LN1 3SP for use in satellite navigation systems.

Parking is available in the main leisure centre car park. To find the cycle circuit – go through the green gates to the right of reception, follow the path on the right after the buildings, past the 5-a-side football pitches and through the gate on your left. The start for the cycle events is the building in front of the athletics track “The Hub”.

April to September – Outdoor Coaching and Racing on the Yarborough circuit.

Time:

  • Wednesday evenings 6.00pm to 6:30pm. Coaches set up. Helpers welcome!
    Wednesday evenings 6.30pm to 7:30pm: Under 12 and Youth coaching.
    Wednesday evenings 7.30pm to 8:30pm: Juniors and Seniors coaching.

What you need to know:

  • Minimum requirement for children is to be able to cycle without the use of stabilisers and to follow our code of conduct and Golden Rules with coaches.
  • There is no age restriction. The sessions are geared to fun, with disciplined on the bike skills, and a first introduction to competition. All bikes are welcome, with opportunities for racing fun on the track.
  • Under 12 and Youths will be train together, but may be grouped into skill and ability groups to support their development. These sessions will concentrate on: Specific skills training, general fitness, an introduction to racing and related on the bike games.
  • Juniors and Seniors: This will be held after the Youth and Under 12s have finished. The hour session is geared towards learning cycling skills at speed on a closed circuit. There will be some training games and activities to bring in a competitive element and build teamwork skills in cycling. 
  • All training will take place on the ‘short-circuit’ at Yarborough, which is approximately 0.5 miles long.

What you will need to bring:

A bike in good working order, a helmet, something to drink!

September to January – Cyclo Cross in Athletics Arena at Yarborough Leisure Centre

Time:

  • Wednesday evenings: Under 12 from 6.30pm to 7.30pm
  • Wednesday evenings: Youths and Seniors from 6.30pm to 8.00pm

All riders are welcome as the riders will be split into ability groups

What you need to know:

  • These sessions are on grassed areas and the cycle track.
  • They require either a mountain bike or preferably a cross bike (lighter to handle) with suitable tyres which afford a good grip.
  • In winter the ground is floodlit for visibility.

What you will need to bring:

A bike in good working order, a helmet, appropriate winter training clothing, something to drink.

February - March – Youth Indoor Training in the Gymnasium.

Time:

  • Wednesday evenings 6.00pm to 7.00pm and at other times, depending on session host availability.

Come with your bike and borrow a turbo trainer. If you have access to a turbo trainer and can bring this too, please do as the club has a limited supply of turbo trainers.

Weekly training group rides.

Meet at Lincs FM (Sat Nav location: LN5 7FB) or Skellingthorpe Community Centre.

Time:

Saturday 10.00am all year-round, weather and coach availability permitting. see the Club Facebook page for updates

Categories:

Parents and youths, some ability and fitness necessary for the longer ride.

What you need to know:

  • This ride is geared to beginners and improving juveniles.
  • It will start by riding down the Bardney cycle track. Parents and children are encouraged to attend and can be managed to include 5, 10 and 20mile rides along the track.
  • More experienced juveniles* will continue from Bardney, where they will be instructed in road riding, sprint, group, and echelon work.

*NB Road Insurance will only cover riders over 12 years of age.
